A great day for Bushbury in London! The team of Lee Grinsell, Alan Crombleholme, John Staniforth, Richard Parry and Phil Staley ran out 4 - 1 winners over Tunbridge Wells.

On grading it looked like being a close match and the final scoreline did not perhaps reflect the closeness of some of the games. Lee winning was a 'big point' as draws were then no good to the Tunbridge Wells players. Maybe they pushed a little too hard.

Lee finished first, his opponent gave up simply defending his weakened queenside, tried something and lost. Alan hung on by the skin of his teeth, avoided being mated and won. John, with help from his opponent, manged to win a complicated ending. Richard had an edge from early on and won comfortably in the end. Phil got on the wrong side of a Sicilian, started to get out, got into time trouble and went down.

Well played all and thanks to Skipper Phil who won the vital game in the semi-final against Metropolitan.
